With OS Open data allowing us to plug gaps in People’s Map coverage faster than would have been possible otherwise,
we are steaming ahead with the completion of a properly structured and attributed vector data set that will produce
quality maps at all scales between 1:10 000 and 1:1 000 000.
This will be complemented by a range of consistent raster images from street level up to a British Isles overview.
Unlike other alternatives, the new People’s Map images / printed map versions will have a consistent look and feel between all the different scales.
Furthermore, the well structured vector data means that alternative raster images in different styles can be produced to order.
Whilst licensing of People's Map is free for private and non-commercial use, the
People's Map can also be used for commercial purposes based on a perpetual licensing
scheme.
The People's Map framework can be utilized in the following manner:
- Procure existing raster and vector map data for cartographic, publishing, printing,
internet or GIS use,
- Create new map data within the People's Map for use in your value added products,
- Work in partnership with the People's Map

While the People's Map is an ongoing venture, there are already complete off-the-shelf
products ready for purchase, ranging from a 1:1,000,000 scale map of the British
Isles to a 1:10,000 scale map of Edinburgh city.
All data can be provided in both raster and vector formats which is ideal for use
in GIS Systems, Online, Publishing or Value Added products. In addition, there are
several printed maps ready for purchase, or customized maps can be created and printed
to suit your needs, with varying sizes and content.

Although the People’s Map is still a map in progress, along with our range of complete
off the shelf products, we can also supply mapping at a number of scales and in
a variety of formats, depending on our map coverage for the area.
Bespoke Mapping can be supplied either in the raster format rendered according to
maps visible in the People’s Map web mapping interface or the data can be requested
in raw vector formats.
Raster Data can be supplied for any area and any scale requested, as long
as this area is populated with data. Vector Data can be requested for the
following layers: Roads, Railways, Admin Boundaries, Buildings, Land Use, Built-Up
Areas, Drainage, Coastline, Place Name Gazetteer, Points of Interests and Contours.
We are also able to create bespoke mapping products according to your requirements
which could be anything from digital map images to paper maps.
